Current Projects

The projects below reflect just a few examples of how Groundswell is working across the country to expand access to Opportunity Schools. Each represents a different way we support communities—from designing new schools to supporting policymakers.

Tennessee

New Opportunity Charter Schools
What began as a 2022 feasibility study in Nashville led to statewide impact—including the passage of new Opportunity Charter Schools legislation and collaboration with state leadership on the development of accountability and performance frameworks for these schools. Groundswell is supporting the launch of The Rock Academy in Nashville, and is partnering with Urban Dove, an outstanding Opportunity School network in NYC, to launch and incubate Urban Dove Memphis, the city’s first Opportunity Charter School. We continue to work with state leaders to strengthen the ecosystem for Opportunity Schools across Tennessee.

New York

NYC Transfer School Community of Practice
In partnership with the Student Success Network, Groundswell launched a Community of Practice to explore how strong relationships drive student success. New York City’s innovative school leaders are surfacing key insights that Groundswell is sharing across our national network.

Texas

Responding to Evolving Student Need at Compass Rose Impact
Compass Rose’s new Impact Campus in San Antonio serves students at high risk of failing to complete high school, including recent immigrants with limited formal education. Groundswell is working with school and network leaders to refine their school model and align the work of administrators and teachers with proven best practices for student success.
